Parasympathetic Parenting

When you are stressed, your body may be in sympathetic nervous system mode where you are primed for fight, flight or freeze. 


Yet we are also primed to connect with our children through something called the AFFILIATE RESPONSE which means oxytocin is simultaneously released with the cortisol, epinephrine and nor-epinephrine that help us when we are in danger. 


Remembering your child is not the source of danger helps you connect and access this affiliate response.
